Detailed Information for : Sales & Use Tax, Temporary Event Operator & Seller Information

Operators are required to report all Sellers at their event, including those whose sales may be exempt from sales tax to the Department of Revenue within 10 days following the close of each event and may do so electronically or manually. If the Operator has all event participants complete Form S-240, the Operator will be relieved of the responsibility of determining who is required to have a seller's permit at the event. Please note that the Form S-240 is not an application for any type of permit. More detailed information is available on the Department's website linked below.

Generally, sellers who have $1,000 or more in sales of personal property and taxable services during the calendar year are required to have a WI seller's permit. A seller's permit allows a seller to make taxable sales of tangible personal property or services at all temporary events in Wisconsin. A more detailed explanation and registration information is available on the Department's website linked below.
