Detailed Information for : Special Events Recreational Use License
Description:
This license is required for anyone holding a competition or other non-routine event in a state park, forest, or trail or on other Department of Natural Resources lands. Examples include foot, bike, or canoe races; horse endurance events; Civil War encampments outside designated campgrounds; marathons; hot-air balloon rallies; and events that sell food or beverages to the public. Routine activities, DNR-sponsored events, and events held entirely on roads and waterways normally do not require a license.

Start and end dates must be specified in the application.  
Fees:
The fee, if any, is set to cover the added expense to the department that the event causes.  
Prerequisites:
Liability insurance listing the Department of Natural Resources and its employees as additional insureds.  
Required Documentation:
The liability insurance certificate.  
Instructions:
First, talk with the superintendent of the park, forest, or trail where the event will be held. Submit two copies of Form 2200-127 and the insurance certificate to the park, forest, or trail office at least three weeks before the event.
