Detailed Information for : Telecommunications Utilities (New Alternative) Certificate of Authority

Description:	To authorize such an entity to transact business in Wisconsin under s. 196.203 (2), Stats. Entities covered under this section include cable television communications service providers Ch. PSC 171, telecommunications resellers (including alternative operator service providers) Ch. PSC 168 and any other telecommunications provider if the commission finds that the service offered by the telecommunications provider is available from other telecommunications providers within this state directly or indirectly to the public. Examples of other alternative telecommunications providers requiring PSC certification include competitive local exchange companies (CLECs) and video distance learning network providers. Telecommunications providers not subject to PSC certification as a condition of transacting business, but which may be subject to other PSC regulations include pay telephone service providers, shared tenant service providers and commercial mobile radio service providers.
