Detailed Information for : Professional Counselor
Description:
License required for a person to perform counseling through various means of applying a combination of human development, rehabilitation and either psychosocial or psychotherapeutic principles, procedures or services that integrate a wellness, pathology and multicultural model of human behavior in order to assist an individual, couple, family, group of individuals, organization, institution or community to achieve mental, emotional, physical, social, moral, educational, spiritual, vocational or career development and adjustment through the life span of the individual, couple, family, group of individuals, organization, institution or community.

Duration:
Two years. Renewal due date is June 30 of each odd-numbered year.

Prerequisites:
Valid Wisconsin credential or license (see initial application information).  
Application Form(s):
Renewal notice is mailed 6 weeks before the renewal due date. For example, you receive a renewal notice on May 15 (of odd-numbered years) to be renewed by deadline date of June 30 (of odd-numbered years). Special renewal requirements are listed on the back of the renewal form.
