Detailed Information for : Falconry Permit
Description:
The State of Wisconsin's resident falconry permit is a 3-year permit for which there is a fee of $75. This permit has three classes identified: Apprentice Class, in which the permittee is at least 14 years old and is sponsored by a falconer possessing a General or Master falconry permit. The Apprentice falconer is restricted to possession of 1 American Kestrel or 1 Red-tailed Hawk. The General Class permitttee must be at least 18 years old and must have at least 2 years experience as a falconer. A General Class permittee may not possess more than 2 raptors and may not obtain more than 2 raptors from the wild during any 12-month period. A Master Class permittee must have at least 5 years experience as a falconer, and may not obtain more than 2 raptors from the wild and possess more than 3 raptors during any 12-month period. Both General and Master Class falconers may not take, transport, or possess a golden eagle or any endangered or threatened species, except properly marked captive-reared species. Additionally, General Class falconers may not take, transport, or possess a merlin eyas.

Prerequisites:
Applicant must pass a multiple choice exam administered by regional conservation warden or wildlife biologist. Applicant's falconry facilities and equipment must be inspected to ensure compliance with Federal and State standards.

Completed federal and state falconry application and results from multiple choice exam and raptor facilities inspection.
